About Me

Richard was born in Queens, New York. His parents were divorced
when he was five years old due to his father’s alcoholism. Richard was
sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Maryland while his older sister
remained with their mother in New York.

His childhood was difficult because no matter what he did he couldn’t
please his uncle and he developed very low feelings of self-worth and
self-esteem and finally took on a shame-based identity that resulted in a
15-year addiction to alcohol and drugs as a way to escape the pain of his

He enjoyed a successful career in marketing and advertising in New
York because he was very good with clients. After moving to Georgia in
1978, Jesus Christ saved Richard and delivered him from his addiction
to drugs and alcohol. God also gave him a burden for others who suffer
from addiction and emotional trauma.

He’s been married for almost 38 years. He and his wife Treba have an
adult son who serves as Student Ministry Pastor at First Baptist Church
Newnan, Georgia.

Richard and his wife are members of First Baptist Church, Atlanta
