Next training class coming 2026

Group Book Discussion

What is EDC?

Freedom Path Counseling is a counseling and training facility which offers equipping courses for the next generation of Discipleship Counselors. This program offers a multi-faceted approach, including classroom study, videos, and co-counseling learning. This 23-session program will equip men and women who sense God’s calling to pastoral counseling with a firm introduction to the Exchanged Life Model of discipleship counseling. The focus of EDC is learning, observing, and practicing basic counseling skills. Upon completion of required reading, homework, class participation, and co-counseling hours, students will be awarded a certificate of completion from Network 220. This program does not qualify one as a Licensed Professional Counselor, however, it does prepare participants for pastoral counseling. (Please note: The Encounter is a prerequisite to EDC).

What do I need to know?

Commitment

Equipping the Discipleship Counselor runs for 7 months and meets online for 2 hours each week. In preparation for each class, students will watch up to 2 hours of training and lecturing videos. Additionally, students will meet online weekly with a partner and supervisor for 2 hours to practice their counseling skills.

Throughout the course, students will prepare a final project from an approved project list. On average, students should set aside about 10 hours per week for EDC.
